Annual drug sales in each of the eight therapeutic areas (cancer, blood diseases, liver diseases, dermatosis, hypertension, diabetes, dementia, and hyperlipidemics) had passed US $1 billion in 2008. Sales of cancer drugs in the Chinese hospital market reached US $4.612 billion, followed immediately by blood products which had US $3.966 billion in 2008.
